About
Pete Hamilton
A professional musician for over 30 years, Pete Hamilton (Vocals, Guitar, Accordion and Piano) has written and recorded four studio albums and created two collections of instrumental music. A prolific songwriter, he has drawn from a lifetime of experience, travels and simply paying attention to the world.
Not just a thoughtful and mature composer, Pete is an experienced and accomplished performer and has played at the Edinburgh festival, appeared with Al Stewart at the Albert Hall and The Barbican and featured on sessions for BBC Radio 2 and Radio Scotland.
He was a musician and songwriter in the New York based roots rock band The Press Gang and has toured Germany, Switzerland and Italy with Gipsy Trio La Strada. A founder member and frontman of several combos including The Hired Hands (Country), Leopold’s Desire (30’s Cabaret) and The Pete Hamilton Band (Jazz, Blues and Swing), he also played accordion for many years with the London based Ceilidh ensemble Chaos.
Stu McBride
Long time friend and collaborator Stu McBride (Vocals and Double Bass) left Jesus College Oxford and embarked on a career taking him to over 60 countries around the globe. He was originally a French Horn player and then Bass Guitarist before graduating to Double Bass. He has worked with Pete on many of his recordings and live performances contributing his solid playing, melodic voice and crafted harmonies. In addition to this current project, he also plays in Pete’s Continental/Jazz Trio.
Pete’s recent collection of thought-provoking songs consists of emotionally compelling stories on subjects such as injustice, infidelity, parenthood and human imperfection. They evoke a sense of time and place through a diverse range of musical styles.
‘Cinematic, character led lyrics confront moral and social issues with honesty, irony and humour.’
